Highlights from the 2023 Federal and Provincial budgets
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance the Hon. Chrystia Freeland tabled the Federal Government’s Budget on March 28, 2023. Highlights include:
- Changes to the rules on intergenerational business transfers (Bill C-208)
- Expansion of the Alternative Minimum Tax (AMT) for individuals
- New rules to facilitate the use of E+356mployee Ownership Trusts

Ontario
Titled Building a Strong Ontario, this year’s budget is focused on economic resilience and building strong infrastructure to support growth across the province.
Quebec
This year’s budget, titled A Committed Québec, is focused on initiatives to build a more prosperous and greener Québec, including investments in health care and education support.
New Brunswick
Titled Growth and Opportunity, this year’s budget outlines investments in priority areas including health, education, and supporting vulnerable populations.
Nova Scotia
This year’s budget, titled More Healthcare, Faster, is focused on action for health care to support healthy communities and a healthy economy.
Newfoundland and Labrador
